About Us

Umlaut is a bunch of friends (David & Flo, follow us!) from Amsterdam (and Rick, from R'dam) who love wine. What started as curiosity turned into road trips to Germany, long evenings at kitchen tables, and real friendships with the people behind the bottles.

We did not set out to build a wine company. We simply wanted to share the wines we fell in love with. The growers we work with are people we know personally. They farm thoughtfully, work with respect for their land, and make wines that reflect who they are and where they come from.

Most of our wines come from less than four hours away. That means short transport lines, a smaller footprint, and a natural connection between vineyard and glass. German wine is not only exciting and full of energy, it is also one of the most logical and sustainable choices for Amsterdam and the rest of NL.

We import the wines ourselves and work closely with restaurants and wine lovers who care about character over convention. No unnecessary complexity. Just honest bottles made by good people, shared with good people.
