Dominik Held | Bussi Rot #1 2023

Bussi means kiss, which tells you the intent. Dominik Held grew up on his family's farm in Dolgesheim, Rheinhessen, where the coat of arms by the door reads 1604. When he came home from wine school and a formative stint with natural wine pioneer Andreas Gsellmann in Austria, his father handed him the old, low-yield parcels nobody wanted: vines planted by his grandfather, in grapes that had fallen out of fashion. Dominik treats this Dornfelder and Portugieser more like Beaujolais than Bordeaux: wild ferment, light touch, ten milligrams of sulphur at the very most.

Juicy, gluggable red, best with a proper chill on it. Kiss accordingly.
